Joining Buntho

Interested in joining our group?

Buntho is currently (fall 2015) open to new members.

Thank you for your interest.

If we sound like a possible fit for you, then please email
mailto://bunthowriter@gmail.com.
We'll get back to you and ask for a sample from your best work, either a short story or a chapter from a novel. You can send your submission either as an attached file or as straight text in your e-mail. Your submission will be forwarded to our entire group.

Also, please include in your e-mail some quick answers to the questions listed below.

If we think that you'll be a good fit for our group, then we'll invite you to our next meeting. We'll send you our submissions for that meeting, and invite you to send us a complete story (or chapter, or excerpt, as you choose). Then you and we can experience critiquing each other's work. Soon after the meeting, we'll let you know whether we are inviting you to join our group as a regular member.

Thanks for your interest! We look forward to reading your work.

Note to novelists: Buntho does not exist so that you can "join" to workshop your current novel, and then disappear. Our goal is a stable ongoing membership.

1. What writing classes or critique groups have you participated in? Were there any aspects of these classes/groups that you particularly liked? Particularly disliked?

2. What are you working on now? Genre (e.g., science fiction, fantasy, mystery, literary...)? Length (short stories, novellas, novels)?

3. Has any of your writing been published?

4. What kind of critique group are you looking for? What are you hoping to get from having your work critiqued?

5. Our group is officially focused on science fiction and fantasy, but we are happy to read stories that do not fall within these genres. How do you feel about reading and critiquing fiction that lies outside your own genre(s) of interest?
